Paragon Guild Charter
par•a•gon [par-uh-gon]
-noun
1) an ideal instance; a perfect embodiment of a concept
2) model of excellence or perfection of a kind; one having no equal
Purpose
Paragon is built on the premise of being the best. We have three priorities:
1) To have the most fun possible playing an MMORPG together.
2) Being known as a respectable, honorable guild with professional people and players.
3) Being a top guild in the progression race on the Realm of Darrowmere.
These priorities are numbered because they have an order of importance. Being the top guild will never get in the way of our reputation, and nothing will ever get in the way of us having fun in this game.
A long time ago in blah blah land! (Coming soon.)
Faction and Aim
We have selected to run our guild on a Player Vs. Player (PvP) server, and as such, we are forced to fight the opposing faction often. The guild has chosen to represent the Horde faction in the game. Players are expected to perform to the best of their abilities when engaging our Alliance enemies in the game.
While we encourage strong PvP play, it should be noted that Paragon’s major aim is set in Player Vs. Enemy (PvE) progression. PvP will never override our efforts in PvE content. This is a raiding guild first and foremost, and as such, our aims will always lean toward that aspect of the game.
Loot
Paragon works on a loot system where the raid leader chooses who gets what based on a few factors:
• Rank
• Attendance
• Seniority
• Upgrade
For this system to work, the guild has to trust in the judgment of the raid leader. Having tried multiple loot systems, it has been decided that this system is the best option to avoid drama and to most easily assist in the progression of the guild.
When a boss dies, the raid leader will announce what items dropped in raid chat. He will then ask for tells for each item individually. Members should send a tell to the raid leader with their currently equipped item for that slot. After 15 seconds, the raid leader will announce that the item has 15 seconds left before he chooses the recipient (for a total of 30 seconds after initial announcement). After that time period, the raid leader will drop the item on the person he chooses based on the above criteria. Members should know what items drop off of which mobs before the raid in order to expedite this process.
Any item that does not have tells will have a ‘last call’ tell period of 15 seconds before it is disenchanted. Enchanting materials obtained this way will be placed in the guild bank. All greens obtained in a raid will be disenchanted and placed into the bank. All crafting recipes and materials that are Bind-on-Equip that drop in raids will be placed in the guild bank.
Any item in the bank can be bought by any member of Paragon who is ranked higher than Trial Member. MF Warriors can buy items from the bank at a cost of 50% of the average historical auctioneer value based on the last two weeks. Paragonians can purchase items from the bank for 85% of auctioneer value. Items purchased this way must be used for their intended purposes, and not to sell for a profit. MF Warriors receive priority on choice of items.
In order to request an item from the bank, simply ask the Guild Master.
At the Guild Master’s discretion, a cap may be placed on the amount one member can withdraw from the bank in a set period of time. While the bank is there for everyone to use, it shouldn’t be abused by any one person.
Raid materials such as food, elixirs, and marks will be available to all MF Warriors on days of raids. You will be allowed to withdraw up to two items from the consumables tab in the bank on those nights, free of charge.
Guild Structure
The guild is split up into 8 ranks. Below is a description of each rank:
Guild Master: The leader of the guild, and the person who has the final say for all guild-related activities. The Guild Master is responsible for the direction of the guild in terms of progression and focus. The Guild Master is also responsible for creating, maintaining, and enforcing rules, and manages guild promotions, demotions, and removal.
Commander: Three guild members who have been a sturdy backbone for the guild. These leaders are often called on to organize raids, events, and assist the Guild Master in whatever function he needs. In the absence of the Guild Master, a Commander will be the person who organizes and leads raids in his place. Commanders are often responsible for enforcing rules and giving input to the Guild Master about the general condition of the guild.
Class Captain: The leader of each class is responsible for splitting up responsibilities within their class (specs, raid assignments, etc.) and helping each person in their class be better at what they do by educating and helping them to the best of their ability. They should be knowledgeable at all aspects of their class, and be helpful to members with questions. It is also the responsibility of the class leader to seek out recruits for their class, sort through applications from their class, and speak with potential members.
MF Warrior: There will be a limited number of spots available to those who want to raid, and who raid consistently. In order to be a MF Warrior, you must have at least 80% attendance to raids for a month, and you must always come prepared to raids. The MF Warrior rank is allowed to use the guild bank, gets priority on loot, and has a guaranteed spot in raids.
Paragonian: This is the rank for more casual members of the guild. Paragonians are not required to be at raids, but they also do not get priority for an available raid slot. If a slot is available, they can come to the raid, based on the raid leader’s discretion. They are allowed to use the bank for a higher rate, and receive a lower priority for loot.
Officer Alt: These are secondary characters of anyone who is ranked Class Captain or higher. The only difference between this rank and the MF Alt rank is the ability to read officer chat.
MF Alt: These are secondary characters of anyone who is ranked Member or higher. You are allowed one alt below 70, and any number of alts that are 70.
Trial Member: These are potential members who have applied to the guild and been accepted. After a two week trial, there is a decision about whether a trial member should be promoted to the Paragonian rank, or be removed from the guild. If a trial member has 90% raid attendance during their trial, and is accepted as a Paragonian, they will only have to use the next two weeks for consideration on being promoted to MF Warrior. Anything less than 90% will lead to the normal full month of consideration for MF Warrior status. Attendance less than 50% will be a failed trial.
For any successful guild, there has to be a solid rule structure for members to abide by. The following is a non-exhaustive list of rules that is meant to keep the guild a fun place to play in:
1) Don’t be a #@&!er. This is a blanket rule that enforces the idea of common sense.
2) Treat your fellow guild mates with respect. We don’t need to have drama in the guild. While it’s probably impossible to love every other member of the guild, do not be openly hostile to anyone else wearing the Paragon tag. If there is a dispute between guild members, there should first be an attempt to resolve the situation in tells between the two parties. If no resolution is possible in that way, the situation should be taken to the Guild Master or a Commander to resolve.
3) Obey instructions given by senior officers. There has to be a set hierarchy in the guild in order to avoid chaos. Everyone who is an officer is experienced and has earned their title. Don’t talk back or disrespect them, and follow directions they give you.
4) Always act with decorum while playing. You can be anywhere and leave an impression on people you don’t even know. Act professionally and be respectful of others at all times, whether it be in dealing with a crafter, or PUGing a heroic instance. You never know what opinion people are making of you. Make us look good.
5) Avoid all chats that aren’t involved with the guild, except for their intended purpose. There is absolutely no reason to get involved with the nonsense in trade or general chat. When using trade chat, use it for its purpose, not to argue with morons.
6) Do not post on the server forums or other forums with anything that will bring negative attention to Paragon. Same principle as chats, the forums can be a useful tool for communication with the rest of the server, but avoid unnecessary flame wars or useless topics.
7) Do not PUG raids that Paragon is currently working on. If you get saved to an instance with another guild, how can you run with Paragon?
8) Follow all rules set forth by the World of Warcraft Terms of Service. You’re not useful to the guild if you’re banned. The only questionable rule is about account sharing. Paragon understands some situations, but everything must be cleared with the Guild Master first.
9) Play on a decent system with a stable connection. Extremely red latencies or constant disconnects make you an unreliable member of the team.
If any of these rules is broken three times, the member in question will be demoted to the next lowest rank, and subject to the same promotion schedule as anyone else of that rank. Until their next promotion, they are considered on probation. If one rule is broken during this probation period, that member will be removed from the guild.
Raiding
The rank of MF Warrior will be based on a rolling attendance requirement of 80%. This percent will reset every 20 raids for members who are currently the rank of MF Warrior. Paragonians who wish to become MF Warriors will notify the Guild Master. Their attendance will be tallied after 30 days, and they will be promoted to MF Warrior if they meet the 80% requirement. Excused leave of absences are acceptable, so long as the guild leader is given plenty of advance notice and approves of the reason. In order to maintain the rank of MF Warrior, you must follow these rules while raiding with Paragon:
1) Come to raids prepared
a. Have your consumables ready. Food, scrolls, potions, elixirs, drinks, reagents.
b. Be fully repaired.
c. You must come as your normal raid spec.
d. Bring all armor sets that have a foreseeable use for the raid.
2) Be on time to raids. Everyone should be ready to go 30 minutes before the raid starts.
3) Have the required add-ons for raiding.
4) Follow directions given by officers, and keep quiet during strategy/encounters. Only those members of the raid playing vital roles should speak in ventrilo or chat during encounters.
5) No looting of corpses before the raid leader.
6) No AFK’ing during raids. If a member AFK’s three times during a raid, or AFKs for longer than 10 minutes, the raid leader is allowed to kick them at their discretion.
7) Play on a stable connection. If a member disconnects three times, or disconnects for longer than 10 minutes, a raid leader again has the option to find a suitable replacement for that member.
If any of these rules is broken three times, that member will be demoted from the MF Warrior rank, and will have to re-apply for a 30 day attendance calculation.
In order to maintain membership in Paragon, some software is required to facilitate our progress and communication as a guild.
All Members must have:
1) A web browser, and a forum membership on our website
Anyone who wishes to raid must have:
1) Ventrilo Voice Software
2) Omen Threat Meter Add-on
3) Deadly Boss Mods Add-on
4) Recount Add-on
All raid healers must have:
1) Decursive Add-on
2) Healbot or Grid Add-on
Along with these add-ons, each class has a specific set of add-ons that their Class Captains will designate. These add-ons are also required.
